While the majority of chemicals in cosmetics pose limited or absolutely no threat, several have been associated with severe health problems, such as developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics enter a person's body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and cause the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer can be found in food, water, and several other everyday products. But, no area of consumer products is accountable to less government direction than cosmetics and other personal care products, including Lip Gloss (Pretty Pout).
