Though many chemicals in cosmetic products pose little or absolutely no threat, several dozen have been linked to severe health conditions, including cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Chemicals in cosmetics gain entry to the body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and pose the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals linked to cancer can be found in food, water, and several other everyday goods.
