While most chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics present very little or no threat, several dozen are associated with significant health problems, including developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals get into a person's body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and cause similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants linked to cancer can be found in food, water, and lots of other everyday products. Still, no category of consumer products is subject to less government direction than cosmetics, including Lip Gloss (Cali Cool). While many of the chemicals in cosmetics most likely present minimal risk, exposure to a few has been linked to substantial health problems, including cancer.
