While the majority of chemicals in cosmetics present very little or absolutely no danger, several dozen have been linked with substantial medical problems, such as developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter the body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and lead to the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food and lots of other ordinary items. Still, no sector of consumer items is susceptible to less government management than cosmetics and other personal products, including Lip Gloss (Madeleine). Though most of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics and personal care products likely present very little risk, subjection to some is associated with critical health conditions, including cancer.
