While the majority of chemicals in beauty products present little or zero threat, several dozen are associated to severe medical issues, including cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter the body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and cause similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals linked to cancer can be found in food and a lot of other commonly used products. However, no group of consumer products is susceptible to less government oversight than cosmetics, including Lipgloss (Flame Shade). Though most of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics almost certainly pose little risk, exposure to a few is linked to critical health issues, such as cancer.
