While the majority of chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose slight or no risk, several dozen are associated to significant medical problems, such as developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals get into your body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and lead to the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer are found in water, food, and lots of other common goods.
