Though most chemicals in beauty products pose hardly any or no danger, several dozen have been associated with serious health problems, including cancer, and neurological harm. Cosmetic chemicals invade the body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and pose the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals linked to cancer can be found in food and many other everyday goods.
