While most chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose little or no threat, several dozen have been associated with severe medical problems, including cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics enter the body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and cause the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants linked to cancer can be found in food, water, and a lot of other commonly used products.
