Although the majority of chemicals in cosmetics pose slight or absolutely no risk, some have been associated with substantial medical conditions, including developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics enter a person's body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and pose similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in food and lots of other commonly used goods.
