While the majority of chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose little or absolutely no risk, dozens are associated with severe health problems, including developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter the body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and lead to similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer are found in water, food, and several other ordinary products.
