Although the majority of chemicals in cosmetic products pose slight or no risk, several are associated with severe health problems, including neurological harm and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics invade the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and cause the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer are found in food and several other commonly used products. Yet, no type of consumer products is accountable to less government inspection than cosmetics and other personal care products, including Lip Gloss- lilac.
