Although many chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics present little or no risk, dozens are associated with substantial health problems, including cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics get into a person's body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and lead to similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food, water, and several other commonly used products. Still, no type of consumer products is susceptible to less government inspection than cosmetics, including Lip Gloss- lilac.
