Though the majority of chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose little or zero threat, several dozen have been linked to substantial medical issues, including cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter the body through the skin and inhalation, and pose similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals linked to cancer are found in food and many other commonly used items. But, no classification of consumer items is susceptible to less government inspection than cosmetics, including Concealer (0.5 shade). While many of the chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products probably present minimal risk, being exposed to a few has been linked to substantial health problems, including cancer.
