While most chemicals in cosmetics pose limited or absolutely no danger, several have been linked to serious health problems, such as developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics invade the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and pose similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals linked to cancer are found in food and various other commonly used products. Yet, no category of consumer products is subject to less government inspection than cosmetics, including Concealer (0.5 shade). Although many of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products likely pose minimal risk, exposure to some is linked to substantial health conditions, such as cancer.
