Although most chemicals in beauty products present minimal or no danger, some have been associated with significant medical problems, including developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics invade the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and lead to similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in food, water, and several other commonly used products. Still, no sector of consumer products is subject to less government inspection than cosmetics, including Pro Pencil (#2 shade). While many of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics in all likelihood present little risk, exposure to some is associated with significant health issues, including cancer.
