Though many chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics present hardly any or no threat, several are linked to serious medical problems, including cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics enter the body through inhalation, the skin, and ingestion, and pose the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals linked to cancer are found in food, water, and several other commonly used products. However, no classification of consumer products is subject to less government direction than cosmetics, including Pro Pencil (#2 shade). Although many of the chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products most likely pose little risk, being exposed to a few has been linked to significant health conditions, including cancer.
