While many chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose little or absolutely no danger, dozens have been linked to substantial health problems, such as developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals get into the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and cause similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer can be found in food and a lot of other common goods.
