While the majority of chemicals in cosmetics pose limited or absolutely no risk, several dozen are linked to severe health problems, such as developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals enter the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and lead to similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.
