Although most chemicals in beauty products pose little or zero threat, several dozen have been associated with serious health conditions, including cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics get into a person's body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and lead to the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in food and many other everyday items. But, no category of consumer items is accountable to less government oversight than cosmetics and other personal products, including Sugar and Spice.
