Although many chemicals in cosmetics pose limited or no risk, several dozen have been linked to serious health conditions, including developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals enter a person's body through inhalation, the skin, and ingestion, and pose similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals linked to cancer are found in food, water, and many other ordinary goods.
