Although most chemicals in beauty products present little or absolutely no risk, several have been associated with substantial health problems, including developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics invade the body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and lead to similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer can be found in water, food, and a lot of other everyday products. However, no classification of consumer products is susceptible to less government inspection than cosmetics and other personal care products, including Eyeshadow Refill (Legend shade).
