While many chemicals in cosmetic products pose slight or zero risk, several dozen have been associated with significant health problems, such as developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics get into the body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and lead to similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals linked to cancer are found in food and a lot of other common items. But, no category of consumer items is susceptible to less government direction than cosmetics, including Eyeshadow Refill (Electro shade).
