While many chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics present slight or zero threat, several dozen have been associated with substantial health issues, such as developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals invade the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and pose the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in food, water, and a lot of other common items. Yet, no area of consumer items is subject to less government direction than cosmetics, including Lip Gloss (Rasberry). Though many of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products probably present little risk, exposure to some is associated with serious health disorders, including cancer.
