Although many chemicals in cosmetic products pose slight or no risk, dozens have been associated with serious medical problems, including developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals invade a person's body through the skin and inhalation, and lead to similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in food and lots of other commonly used goods. But, no category of consumer goods is subject to less government oversight than cosmetics, including Lip Balm (Lemon). Although many of the chemicals in cosmetics most likely present very little risk, subjection to some has been associated with major health conditions, including cancer.
