While most chemicals in cosmetic products present little or absolutely no threat, several dozen are associated with considerable health issues, including developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals enter a person's body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and lead to similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer are found in water, food, and lots of other ordinary products. Still, no area of consumer products is subject to less government direction than cosmetics, including Lip Balm (Tropical Fruit). Although most of the chemicals in cosmetics likely present minimal risk, being exposed to some is associated with serious health disorders, such as cancer.
