Although the majority of chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose limited or no danger, several dozen have been associated to substantial health problems, such as developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics invade the body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and cause similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals linked to cancer can be found in food and various other common products. Still, no type of consumer products is accountable to less government oversight than cosmetics and other personal care products, including Lip Gloss (Watermelon). While many of the chemicals in cosmetics probably present very little risk, being exposed to some is linked to serious health issues, such as cancer.
