While most chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics present little or no threat, dozens have been associated to severe health problems, including cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics get into the body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and pose similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.
Chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food and various other ordinary goods. Still, no area of consumer goods is accountable to less government direction than cosmetics, including Nail Polish. Although most of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics and personal care products very likely pose very little risk, exposure to some is associated with major health issues, such as cancer.
