While most chemicals in cosmetics pose little or absolutely no danger, some are linked to severe health problems, such as cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics get into the body through inhalation, the skin, and ingestion, and cause the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.
Contaminants and chemicals linked to cancer are found in water, food, and many other common goods. But, no sector of consumer goods is accountable to less government oversight than cosmetics and other personal products, including Lipstick. Though many of the chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products in all likelihood present very little risk, subjection to a few has been linked to substantial health problems, including cancer.
