Although the majority of chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose little or zero threat, several dozen are linked to severe medical conditions, including cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics enter the body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and pose the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer are found in food, water, and many other everyday products. However, no classification of consumer products is accountable to less government oversight than cosmetics and other personal care products, including Coco Lotion.
