Though most chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics present limited or no risk, some are associated to substantial medical conditions, including developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and pose the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer can be found in food, water, and several other everyday items. Yet, no type of consumer items is subject to less government inspection than cosmetics, including Eye Pads.
