While most chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose slight or no risk, several dozen are associated with serious medical problems, such as cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Chemicals in cosmetics invade the body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and pose the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer are found in water, food, and several other common products. Yet, no classification of consumer products is accountable to less government direction than cosmetics, including Manicure's Best Friend.
