While most chemicals in cosmetics pose minimal or no threat, some are associated with severe health conditions, including developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals gain entry to the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and pose similar dangers as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer are found in food and several other common items. Yet, no type of consumer items is susceptible to less government oversight than cosmetics and other personal products, including Eye Shadow (Bamboo).
