While many chemicals in cosmetic products pose hardly any or absolutely no risk, some are linked with significant medical issues, such as cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics invade the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and lead to the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer can be found in food, water, and various other commonly used items. But, no category of consumer items is susceptible to less government management than cosmetics, including Eye Shadow (Stardust).
