Though many chemicals in beauty products present very little or zero danger, several have been associated with significant medical conditions, such as developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter the body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and lead to similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer are found in water, food, and various other common goods.
