While the majority of chemicals in beauty products present little or no threat, several are associated to substantial health issues, including cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and cause similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer are found in food, water, and several other ordinary goods. But, no group of consumer goods is susceptible to less government direction than cosmetics and other personal products, including Golden Rules!. Although many of the chemicals in cosmetics probably present minimal risk, exposure to a few is associated with worrying health issues, including cancer.
