While the majority of chemicals in beauty products pose little or no threat, dozens are linked to significant medical problems, such as developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics enter the body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and pose the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer are found in food, water, and several other ordinary products.
