While the majority of chemicals in cosmetics pose little or no danger, several have been associated with significant health problems, including cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter a person's body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and cause similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer are found in water, food, and several other ordinary items. But, no kind of consumer items is susceptible to less government oversight than cosmetics and other personal products, including Total Colour Compact. While many of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics and personal care products most likely present little risk, exposure to some has been associated with major health disorders, such as cancer.
