Although most chemicals in beauty products present hardly any or no risk, several have been associated with severe medical problems, such as neurological harm and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter a person's body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and pose the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer can be found in water, food, and several other commonly used products.
