Though most chemicals in cosmetics pose little or no risk, several dozen have been linked to considerable medical conditions, such as developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals get into a person's body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and lead to similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.
