While most chemicals in cosmetic products present very little or no threat, some have been associated with severe health issues, such as cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter a person's body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and lead to similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.
