While most chemicals in cosmetic products present little or zero danger, several dozen have been associated with considerable health problems, including developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics enter a person's body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and pose the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in food, water, and several other everyday items. Yet, no type of consumer items is accountable to less government inspection than cosmetics and other personal care products, including Hydro-liquid Compact (Refill). Though many of the chemicals in cosmetics most likely present little risk, exposure to a few has been associated with serious health problems, including cancer.
