Although most chemicals in beauty products pose slight or no threat, some have been associated with serious medical conditions, such as neurological harm and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and cause the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants linked to cancer are found in food and lots of other commonly used products.
