While many chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose minimal or zero threat, several have been associated with severe medical issues, including developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics enter the body through the skin and inhalation, and pose similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer can be found in water, food, and various other common goods.
