While most chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics present limited or zero risk, several are linked with significant health issues, including developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals get into the body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and pose the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food, water, and lots of other common items. Still, no classification of consumer items is accountable to less government oversight than cosmetics, including Eye Shadow (Zoom).
