While most chemicals in cosmetics pose little or absolutely no risk, several dozen are linked to serious health problems, including neurological harm and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals can enter a person's body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and lead to the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals linked to cancer are found in food and many other ordinary goods. Still, no type of consumer goods is susceptible to less government oversight than cosmetics, including Eye Shadow (Sienna).
