While most chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose very little or zero risk, some have been linked with significant medical problems, such as cancer, and neurological harm. Cosmetic chemicals can enter the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and cause similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in food and several other commonly used items. However, no category of consumer items is susceptible to less government management than cosmetics, including Eyebrow and Eyeliner Compact.
