Though most chemicals in cosmetic products present little or absolutely no threat, several dozen have been linked to serious health problems, such as developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals enter the body through the skin and inhalation, and pose similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food and several other everyday products. Still, no classification of consumer products is accountable to less government inspection than cosmetics and other personal care products, including Eye Shadow Trio (Twilight).
