Though the majority of chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose limited or no risk, several dozen are associated with considerable health problems, including neurological harm and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals enter the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and pose the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals linked to cancer are found in food and a lot of other common items.
