While many chemicals in cosmetics present limited or absolutely no danger, several have been associated to substantial health problems, such as cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Cosmetic chemicals can enter a person's body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and cause the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals linked to cancer are found in food, water, and several other everyday items. But, no classification of consumer items is subject to less government inspection than cosmetics, including Lipgloss. While most of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics probably pose minimal risk, being exposed to a few is linked to major health concerns, such as cancer.
