While most chemicals in beauty products pose limited or zero risk, several are linked to serious health problems, including developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics get into the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and cause similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer can be found in water, food, and several other ordinary products.
