Although the majority of chemicals in beauty products pose very little or no risk, dozens are linked to substantial medical conditions, including cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics invade the body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and pose the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer are found in food, water, and lots of other common products. Yet, no classification of consumer products is subject to less government oversight than cosmetics, including Shampoo for oily hair. Although many of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products most likely present little risk, exposure to a few has been associated with significant health conditions, including cancer.
