Though the majority of chemicals in cosmetics pose limited or no risk, some are associated with serious health issues, such as cancer, and neurological harm. Cosmetic chemicals can enter a person's body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and lead to the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in water, food, and lots of other ordinary items. But, no type of consumer items is subject to less government oversight than cosmetics and other personal products, including Marine Base Coat.
