While many chemicals in beauty products pose minimal or zero risk, several are associated with severe medical problems, such as cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Chemicals in cosmetics get into the body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and lead to the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in food, water, and many other commonly used products.
