While many chemicals in cosmetic products pose little or no threat, several dozen have been associated to substantial health problems, including neurological harm and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals can enter a person's body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and lead to similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food, water, and a lot of other commonly used products.
