While the majority of chemicals in cosmetics pose very little or no threat, several dozen have been linked to serious medical conditions, such as developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics invade a person's body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and cause similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer are found in water, food, and several other common goods. Yet, no area of consumer goods is susceptible to less government inspection than cosmetics, including Lipstick (Runway Rouge).
