While the majority of chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose very little or zero risk, several dozen have been linked to significant medical issues, including cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics get into the body through the skin and inhalation, and pose similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer are found in water, food, and lots of other commonly used goods. However, no group of consumer goods is accountable to less government oversight than cosmetics, including Makeup Primer. Though many of the chemicals in cosmetics likely present very little risk, being exposed to some is associated with substantial health problems, including cancer.
